Mike Baumer

Mike has been a consistent and significant presence in almost every aspect of running.  As a runner, he began when Coach Neal Charske suggested Mike try running.  From there, Mike was determined to do his best and progressed every year.  He served as Captain of the high school team .  While running in college, Mike went from average to attaining All-American small college status.  He next served as the coach for Wright State University for 15 years.  Under his guidance, the team went from “club” status to a very competitive varsity NCAA team.

For 8 years, Mike served as co-race director for the Total Fitness Lifestyle 5 mile race at WSU.  This continued to be the Rowdy Raider 5K for several more years.  Mike has also been a valuable assistant for 20 years at the Mid East Championships featuring the best cross country seniors in the region.

Mike is a family man, a hard worker and dedicated to distance running.  Well known all-over the area; when you mention “Mike Baumer” the running community knows just who you are talking about.
